A poem by me

In The Time Before Man
In the time before man
Way back long ago
There was a land
That few people know.
There were jets of water
That came out of the ground
Accompanied by vapor
And a great roaring sound.
Swift running rivers
That flowed very fast
Around mountains they slithered
What a long time they would last.
I visited that place
A couple years back
The wonder on my face
When there wasn’t a drawback.
The waterfalls were majestic
The forests were great
The geysers were scenic
The bison were ornate.
After seeing such sights
I made up my mind
To save such sites
And to wildlife be kind.

You have the rhyming down, and the descriptions are very well done.
Question: Out of curiosity, does the poem have to rhyme?
